Stamp Collecting

I bought the entire Scott Catalog on CD, and I’m new to stamp collecting. I’m trying to look up stamps in the catalog and I don’t really understand the different columns, classifications, prices, etc. Is there some sort of index or key to understanding how stamps are listed?

Well while standing in yet another long Monday line at the post office. I noticed a flyer regarding these Star Wars stamps coming out in May 25th. My question is to all the stamp collectors out there - what is your take on these? I think they are rather cool and wonder how much they’ll be worth in a short amount of time or will it take time for them to be worth anymore than their face value.

It seems to me that so few ppl write letters these days using stamps and that interest in stamps and collecting them are also competing with the internet and video games. Your thoughts? I will continue to collect stamps for fun, but am not sure that they will be a good investment if the number of collectors fall.
